sometimes we (i, my and meself) often make the mistaken assumption that all learning is linear like the sequential progression of grades or standards or classes in K-12 school, so all skills based on perceived complexity must also be gained in a sequence that assumes possession of simple skill if harder skill/knowledge is expressed.
